FUNNY BONES

Guess what got pulled out of my daughter-in-laws Christmas box? I bet some of you will remember this pattern. It says on the back that I made it in 1988! I was not yet into quilting, but always loved working with fabric. Looking at this now, it makes me laugh, but it is still a cute design. No quilting on this at all. I just machine appliqued right through the sandwich. I have to say, I feel better about what I am doing now! LOL! Don't know how these photos are turning out on this computer.
Arizona is not as sunny as usual! In fact it has pretty much rained the whole time we have been here. When the sun comes out the air is cool. but we are glad to be here and enjoy the family, etc. I looked out the window this morning and noticed this grapefruit tree, and I swear one of the grapefruit was smiling! Can you see it? Ha ha! (Yup, I did it)!

We had a lovely Christmas and now it is over and we can relax! Today is our 41st wedding anniversary! We are not into big celebrations, but every year is a milestone, and I am grateful to have had a good and loyal companion for all these years. And he is funny too! To me, that is priceless!

Happy Anniversary!

Love the wallhanging . . . . reminds me of one of my early pieces - that I was BOLD enough to give as a gift *yikes* It was from a Simplicity pattern. Oh, how I hope the recipient has tossed it in the trash.

Now there's a happy wallhanging. It looks like the grapefruit is looking at your wallhanging ;-). Happy Anniversary, Marcie!

Happy anniversary! Honey and I hit 40 years in October, a milestone that I am amazed we have reached. Such a cute reindeer; reminds me of my first, a hobby horse, also done as a gift in the same method. Oh my, so funny to think about now. Happy New Year. I look forward to much inspiration from your blog through out 2009.

You left a comments at ?? somewhere requesting that bloggers inspire you to use your Stash - so here I am! A log cabin (see my blog) uses a LOT and you can probably NOT have to purchase much and still have alovely quilt. OK, I DID purchase the cornerstone fabric, but I also, am trying hard to use what I have.

P.S. BTW, you really do a LOT of lovely quilting!

HI Marcie,
Happy happy Anniversary- I hope you and your spouse had a wonderful day together. It was my husband and my 28th wedding anniversary on the 26th as well. Here in Canada it is a holiday called Boxing Day. We spent a lovely day at my parents as we spend most Christmas holidays there with them.

I loved the grapefruit smiles.
All the best in 2009,
Regards,
Anna

Oh my gosh, I couldn't believe my eyes! I too made that very same reindeer quilt! It was a kit from somewhere. We loved it for years, and then I gave it to my sister when her kids were little. I'd forgotten all about that. I wonder if she still has it?
I found your blog thru Through the Barn Door. I can't wait to explore a little further.
Congrats on your wedding anniversay! (DH and I are up to 38 in early December.) May you have many more!

Congratulations on 41 years of marriage!!
Nice smiley grapefruit - I guess making all the grapefruits smile would have been overdoing it :0)

I'm a new reader and had to say hello and hey! I did that reindeer, too! Wonder where mine is? I still think it's one of the cutest designs ever!

Happy Anniversary! We just celebrated our 36th - it's amazing how fast time can go!

I had that reindeer in my house too! I didn't make mine - it was the one thing that I could point to and say - nope, I bought that!

warm winter wishes!

I had an e-mail from a friend who saw the reindeer hanging on your blog and said it looked like the one I posted on my blog that my daughter did many years ago. She sent me your address and your little deer is exactly the same pattern! My daughter didn't quilt it either - it was stitched right through the sandwich just as you did yours. I think it's precious. Sherry doesn't quilt but I think she might some day. Just thought you might enjoy seeing another reindeer wallhanging. If you wish, check out my blog and it's right in one of the latest entries! Happy New Year!
