WOOL IN PROGRESS

I have been playing with my wool blanket scraps and look what I dreamed up! This little flower design is from Blackbird Designs, Fresh from the Garden, only they did it as a little rug. I just love the yellow plaid background. The little cotton print border gives it a some balance. Can you tell how thick this wool is?

The second picture shows the tail end of a green blanket, and I left it there just for fun! This one is still a WIP. I am just playing around and seeing where my needle and thread lead me. The basket and the background are both heavy blankets, and the rest is regular wool. I will show more as I devise it. More and more I am getting the feeling that anything goes! (Just ask Tonya!--see sidebar)

Have you seen the latest Blackbird Designs book, You're Invited? They show beds with skirts made out of old sweaters. Personally, I cannot see myself going that far! But of course the photos are wonderful!

If you like Blackbird Designs and others from Kansas City Star Quilts, check out that link! Good stuff!

I really like your new projects. Nothing holds color the way wool does. Simply lovely.

I've been so curious about the book, but scared to purchase it without looking inside. I should trust that anything by blackbird designs is outstanding. Guess what Jan that you met from Michigan and I have been emailing. I have never met her, but she's real nice....

I love your new projects! I love the blanket binding on the one. Oh, no, don't start me interested in something else! I love Blackbird designs, but haven't done any in wool - haven't done any folk art in a while, actually. Your pics stirred up the desire, though!

Love your latest projects, Marcie!

Isn't wool a fun change from cotton?! I've been going through a bit of a wool craze myself lately. ;-) And lovin' every moment! ;-)

Isn't that the most adorable little quilt!! And I can't wait to see what you do with the 'piece-of-blanket' one. :D Is the new BD book already on the market? I wasn't sure when it was supposed to be out for sale. I'll definitely have to check it out.

Wool blankets? Well, now I'm going to have to dig around . . . I think I may just have an old one or two that I can use for something *s*

Cute projects, indeed! It's cold here now and the wool is very inviting to work with. I love wool, it's so forgiving, as well as pretty.

Love the block with the blanket binding .... that alone will make people stop, look and ask 'why'. Well done on all the blocks.

How clever of you to leave the satin edge on that blanket! It really makes it fun! Great job!

Oh, Marcie, as the others have said, how clever of you to leave that binding on, I want to do exactly the same thing!!! Quick, where's an old blankie and it's got to have the satin binding on it!
