Mid-Atlantic Quilt Day

My friends, Joan and Sue and I, spent all day Thursday in Hampton, VA at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival. As we were driving up to the show Sue asked me if I was looking for anything special. I couldn't come up with an answer, so Joan piped in and said, "She will know it when she sees it"! Well that was certainly true. And for me, it didn't happen in the display of quilts in the show. Most of the quilts in the show are art quilts. And if you want to see art quilts, you will have to look for another blog. There were some fabulous quilts, but the ones that set my heart to singing were those in some of the vendor booths--like Bonnie Blue Quilts, for example!

This is the first year that Paula Barnes, of Bonnie Blue Quilts, has had a booth at this show. It was a beautiful booth, and I just wanted to swallow it whole.

Here I am gushing all over poor Paula. She was as nice as could be and even posed for a picture for my blog! I, in turn, bought a lovely FQ pack of her newest line of fabric. Yeah, it was a hard sell. Just look at her quilts! Aren't they wonderful!!!

I also met up with Mrs. Goodneedle again this year! I neglected to get a photo, but here she is from last year. She is such a neat lady and I just feel like we are old friends every time we meet.

This may well be the only traditional quilt in the show. (To tell you the truth, I didn't look that hard) Isn't it beautiful! It was made by Lynn Nycum and Judy Iamuzzi of Winston-Salem, NC. I am not sure, but Judy may have been the quilter.

There were so many great vendors with booths to investigate! We loved every minute of our wonderful whirlwind of a day! We came home with aching feet, knees, hips, necks. We were all hurting somewhere, but we were blissfully happy! -THE END-

Beatiful quilts you posted. My favorite is the one behind you in poor Paula's booth. I just love her design company too. Now that's my kind of quilt.

Oh my, those are beautiful quilts and they use my favorite colors shades. This sounds like it must have been so much fun and well worth the aches and pains when it was over!

You're so funny about gushing over Paula Barnes but who better to be the gusher and the gushee lol. LOVE the quilts you showed. You should do a booth, Marcie.

I appreciate the art quilts, but I lean toward the traditional ones myself. The traditional ones are the ones that say "quilt!" if you know what I mean. I love that top picture. It sounds like you had a wonderful time Marcie!

Bonnie Blue Quilts is a great company. They have been at our show in Sept for that couple of years.

Thank you Marcie for visiting our booth and for your wonderful comments. And to all of your followers: thank you also. You make us feel so good and why we keep doing what we do. Hope to see you at another show.

I feel the same way about the art versus traditional quilts in this show. I don't like the way that it's become more an Art Quilt show over the years but I think there were actually a few more traditional ones this year.

I saw the Bonnie Blue Quilts booth and those quilts you pictured drew us into the show. I was SO tempted to buy the kit for the blue quilt and use the fabrics for one of my own quilts but I didn't. Seeing the photo makes me regret I didn't!

I love the spools you're working on too.

Last year's photo and last year's hairstyle! ;) Did you get the thread? Sorry I was running around so fast when we got together... ah, to simply sit and visit would be heavenly, wouldn't it? The traditional quilt you showed was, indeed, quilted by J.I. (That's one from my home guild!!) How about another date; same place next year?
