CHEEP TRICK

Or maybe I should say, "cheep decorating". Yeah, it's me playing with words again. I like birds and find cute ones from time to time. This plate rack has become one of my favorite little places to decorate and change with the season. I have shown it before in other arrangements. This time I put this antique bird book up with a nest and a couple little birds that are both made of wood. I am not very clever, so sometimes the decorating comes a piece at a time. I will walk by and think of something to add until I have it the way I like it. They will never hire me for HGTV, I am just too darn slow! Even if I think up a cute name, which is really one thing I seem to be good at. But wait, they do have those cameras that speed things up. It could look like I really think and move fast! Speaking of moving slow, I wonder how long it will take for this quilt top to reach Tracey in Australia? Tracey is collecting blocks to make quilts for victims of the bush fires that destroyed so many homes and lives in Australia recently. I had a top that I never managed to get quilted and so I sent it along to Tracey. I hope she will find a volunteer quilter to finish it up for someone.

Our nasty, cold weather of last week has turned, and this weekend it was in the mid 70's here. Today my husband and I went to eat at Bubba's. They have outdoor seating on a bay inlet, and the weather was perfect for sitting outside. Yummy crabcake for me, thank you very much!
I wish you all pleasant weather and smooth sailing into the new week!

My daughter got married last year at 29 years old. She waited several years for her sweetheart. If we have a little faith all turns out right.

Looks great, love the book up there
Looks like a great book to use for when you want to add a bird to your quilts. Love the look of the quilt hanging from the shelf too
beautiful quilting on it.
nice of you to donate a quilt for the bush fire victims.

Love the decorating, cheep or not. ;) I wish you hadn't mentioned crab cakes, now I'm hungry. Your donation quilt will be deeply appreciated, it's gorgeous.

What a lovely donation quilt and Marcie, I wish you nothing but smooth sailing into this week. You deserve it and I know it's going to be a busy one!

I like your decorated shelf as well as the quilt you are sending away to donate. I can't imagine sitting outside to eat - it is so dreadfully cold here.

I've been looking for a plate rack in the local thrift shops but haven't found one yet. I want to put it in my sewing room to put some quilt books in. I like what you did with yours too. blessings, marlene

Ohhh there surely is nothing better than a seafood restaurant on the coast where you can sit outside, ahhhhhhhh. One of my childhood memories is of eating at the Whispering Sands restaurant on either Siesta Key, sitting outside with those balmy nighttime breezes and smelling the gulf and that heavenly seafood. We ate there annually for years, being Chicago Snowbirds. But maybe I could talk about something besides food: do you love brown transferware, too? I have a few pieces. Just love it.

Hello Marcie, remember me? :0 I know, I know, I've long gone---well it has been one hell of a rough year---but I'm considering returning to the land of the living, quilting, and maybe even blogging. LOL I have ya, woman! I love your plate shelf and the way you have it decorated. I do dearly love the birds. :) The quilt top that you sent Tracey is beautiful! What a wonderful, giving friend you are to all of us. Hugs. Angie

Your decorating looks good to me! I don't think HGTV will be hiring me any time soon either. I think those decorators have input and lots of help doing what they accomplish.
I love sitting outside at a restaurant, if it is not too hot. We ate at a seafood restaurant a few weeks ago that sits on a river. The outside area was full but we did have a good view of the river area while we ate.

I'm a slow decorator too, I move things around until I find the prefect spot. I love the tablescraps quilt too.
