GATHERED OVER TIME

Remember this darling quilt that was in McCall's Quilting, June 2009 issue? I love it, in all its simplicity! Julie Hendrickson is the designer, and she also has a new line of fabric out of those darling little shirtings and small prints called Gathered Over Time, from Windham Fabrics. They are right down my alley. I ordered some the other day to add to my large stash of shirtings, also gathered over time!

And I bought a red stripe that was just the perfect thing for the baby quilt I am working on for my new grandson that is coming in December. I sewed all the blocks together yesterday. Those shirtings and stripes go perfect with the Prairie Paisley blues!

For those who enjoy looking at vintage quilts, check out this Youtube video of Julie Hendrickson showing some of her collection. Yummy!

Mmm, that is a delightful quilt. I don't remember it myself but now I will. I'll hope someday maybe someone will make it for me... (but I wont hold my breath). You gather shirtings like you were gathering kids... Finally you figured out how to stop having babies though! Sheesh.

I love that star quilt, Marcie. I'll have to look up that issue of McCall's - I'm sure I have it (along with loads of other quilting magazines!!). Love that old time look -

Oh yes, old time-y, simple yet so stunning. Your grandbaby's quilt is a stunner, too. Nice eye candy today!

You are so right about the Prairie Paisleys and the shirtings. That is going to be a very good quilt for a little boy. I bought a big piece of the Gathered in time shirting that has red on it to use for background squares on my Dresden Plates.

Your baby quilt is looks great so far! I wish I was as far - my sister is having a baby in Nov and won't commit to any colors yet. I love that PP fabric - I haven't used any of my little stash of it yet. Soon!

I'm so glad you showed this Marcie - it's not always easy to find shirtings and I'm very low on what I have in my stash. blessings, marlene

Hi, Marcie, it's a good thing you are tending your stash. You don't want it to get depleted after all. The baby quilt is sooo pretty.
