March Melody of Quilts

Greetings Blogging Buddies, I want to thank those of you who, even after my absence, are kind enough to keep by blog on your sidebar and come back and read my blog. I told my husband that blogging friends can show up after several years and when we connect again it's just like old friends. I love that! I am trying hard to get back in the groove. I have been trying to visit some blogs and see what is happening, always a fruitful endeavor! If you haven't seen Lori's Jubilee Jubilation!!! post you must race there immediately! Her talent just keeps growing!

I haven't had the time to do much sewing these past few months, and I keep running into these unfinished projects and spare parts laying around now that I am home. Something must be done! I am going to make a concerted effort to complete something very soon!

Meanwhile, I did lug home a bunch of quilts from the local quilt shop last week. After the loss of a couple of great shop managers who bought the kind of fabric that would lure me into the shop, they have decided to go in a different direction and will be focusing on brights. I know, I know, it's what all the young quilters are looking for. So I guess the old geezers like me will have to look elsewhere. There are no other shops close by for that, but I have a few online favorites! Thank heavens!

I see bloggers post stacks of quilts and always find it charming, so hopefully you will enjoy these photos of some of my older designs. It's good to have them home. some have been at the shop for YEARS!

So speaking of fabric, have you seen Civil War Melodies, by Judie Rothermel (Marcus Fabrics) This fabric line is a must have for me! Judie-Judie-Judie, I can always count on Judie! Thankfully I can also always count on Michelle at the Fat Quarters Quilt Shop in Vista, CA to carry everything Judie! And they ship FREE!

  Be still my heart.

Oh my, just look at those piles of luscious yummies! :) I would be glad to 'store' the basket runner (along with a bunch of others) for you---just so they are out of your way while you finish up your WIPs.... LOL

You are too sweet Marcie!!
Love your piles of quilts and I bet it was fun to see them all close up and personal again. Too bad the quilt shop can't please everybody. :)

I did enjoy your pictures today - eye candy I would call them! I love Judie's fabrics too. I am sad to hear your nearby shop is going towards brights. Shopping online works but seeing the fabrics in person is so much better.

I love seeing your quilts. What a bummer about the shop--I never got down there to visit. Have you ever gone to Millstone quilts up by Richmond? It has some nice "our style" fabrics! If you ever want to go, you could drive up here and I could drive the rest of the way!

Glad you have some golden oldies back home with you Marcie.
The younger quilters have to be catered for so these shops can survive.
It's the same over here so I will just keep digging into my collection . A shame but probably necessary in this economic climate.

Yeah for Fat Quarters and Michelle! Of course, Fat Quarters is my local quilt shop - but when it wasn't, I could count on Michelle to get me anything my little heart desired. It was a close to being here as anything and I will appreciate her forever for it!

The little basket piece is sweet. I just plain like basket quilts of any kind.

It is hard for me to find the kinds of fabrics I want locally too. I wish shops would remember to carry fabrics for all quilters and not cater to just one style.

Love that yummy stack o' quilts! And that shop can just keep their brights - not my style either! Glad you are back on your blog! Have you received your Karen quilts yet?

So glad you're back to blogging! I'll bet the quilts you brought home from the quilt shop are like old friends. Love that basket runner! So sad your local quilt shop is making such a big change. Long live on line shopping!

Well, there's no accounting for taste! LOL While I like an occasional bright quilt, my heart leans towards the 'geezer' fabrics.
Looking forward to your new finishes - whenever that may be.

I adore your quilts, Marcie. They look so warm and inviting, and yes, it is fun to see them layered in stacks like that! What is about layers that draws us in?! Getting them back was probably like seeing old friends again. I'm sorry to hear your LQS isn't embracing traditional designs right now. I do like some brights but there's nothing like the traditional treasures. They're timeless, so I've no doubt the shop will come calling again for more of your quilts!
