Really?

I woke up very early this morning and glanced at the clock. 4:00am. It must be kismet, the Royal Wedding is on TV right now! Let's be clear, I am not an early riser. 9:00am is a closer target time for me. I am not proud of that, but that is the way it is. But since I woke up, I decided to make a cup of tea (very British) and turn on the telly and see what was happening in London. I loved watching the arrival of the Royal Family and about two celebrities that I recognized. Victoria Beckham looked stunning and of course there was Sir Elton John. Then there were the hats! There were many beautiful and tasteful hats in attendance.
And then there was Princess Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew and "Fergie", and her hat. This is where I must ask, what was she thinking? I saw nothing else that even came close to this. But really, I would love to know what she was thinking? If she was out to grab attention, well, she succeeded! Maybe she is just a sweet girl having a little fun, I have no idea. But this was the hat seen round the world. I do love her dress, but who would take the time to look at it?

Apparently there was quite a bit of loud cheering going on when the bride and groom kissed. One little flower girl was not pleased.
Prince William and Kate Middleton, now his wife, were very well behaved and professional. I kept getting the feeling they were straining to keep themselves under control as the eyes of the world watched their every move. Well done! They are a darling couple and I have every hope that they will have a wonderful life together, and in the service of their country.

Of course there are lots of photos on line, so if you didn't wake up early, like me, you can probably catch most of it on line and in re-runs. I really didn't plan to get up and watch it, but I am glad I did!

And yes, I did go back to bed when the wedding was over. Yawn!

wow -- do you think Beatrice could have pack on my eye makeup? Maybe that's so that you'll actually notice her face under that ridiculous hat!

Too bad, too. The focus was supposed to be on the bride. Why would anyone try to take that away? But she sure tried, didn't she?

I see the hats and not the people wearing them. They sure made a statement.

There were also fighter jets going over about that time--hence holding the ears. I'd say Beatrice is definitely Fergie's daughter! Becky in Georgia

I loved reading your post, and agree.
I think it was definatey attention, to call to attention that fergie was not there, but also it was probably free.... Seriously.
I am already sleep deprived, but went to bed at 12:30, got up at 3:45 with the alarm... Lol
Dozed after they walked out of the cathedral, woke at "balcony kiss", jumped in shower and have not stopped. Lol
Well worth it!
Now to go back to packing.

I am a super early riser but didn't catch the wedding because I got up at 4am in CA. I saw the exit from the church and the long procession to Buckingham. That was enough for me. That hat...isn't what I would consider a hat. More of a giant hair ornament. And what's with the eye make-up? I'm not really a fan of reality TV and that's sorta what the wedding is. Oh well...it is fun to gawk.

Didn't see that hat; one can see all kinds of psychological things going on from that choice, also one can trace lineage to her mother! Really enjoyed watching the coverage.

What was she thinking indead?... or more accurately in my mind, she wasn't.
I only saw recaps last night on CBS and when I saw Beatrice and her sister, I wanted them to reroll the tape and freeze frame it because I could hardly believe my eyes. I just had to laugh in side and say OMG.
Later the CBS special, I think showed them again walking in the chu rch. I just thought they really looked like the ugly step-sisters out of Cinderella and how Kate really did look like and was the "common" girl marrying the prince. Maybe fairtales do come true for some people. They do make a great looking couple. I hope they break the marriage traditions of their previous generation of royals. It will be interesting to watch them grow and have children and see what happens with their marriage in the next 50 or 60 yrs of my life.

Those hats! I know we don't really go for them much here, but for heaven's sake *s* Someone on tv mentioned playing skee ball . . . I think that about sums it up *lol*

They seems genuinely happy which is all anyone can wish for any newly-weds...but especially these two considering the history with Diana and all. I must admit I did shed a tear as Diana would have been so proud and would have admired Kate's composure! I can't believe how calm they all were..and her sister was stunning in her dress...wow! We had a great day watching the events unfold on TV and then we walked into town to see lots of union jack flags and street parties...it was great! It was another of those do-you-remember-where-you-were moments.
