GRANDMA MOUSIE

I am just screaming with joy! You may (or may not) remember that I mentioned a while back that my darling little granddaughter used to call me Grandma Mousie, back when she was much smaller and could not pronouce her R's. I got such a kick out of that! Well look at the drawing my cute and talented friend, Karen Mowery did for me! Take a good look and see if you recognize the quilt on her lap. It is my Williamsburg Medallion!!! Is that not the cutest thing ever?! I LOVE it! Thank you Karen!!! You are amazing!

I have spent some time sewing in the past few days. I am still excited about the pineapple quilt, and so I have been working on that. I haven't sewn the blocks together, as you can probably tell, but I layed them out for a picture. They are so fun to make. They just ease right into my OCD without a problem. I was a bit afraid that there was not enough contrast in the light and darks. What do you think? Should I focus more on adding darker fabrics? Do the blues jump out too much? Should I set it on point? Oh so many decisions. Feel free to express your opinion (as long as you don't expect me to follow it). These are 10 inch blocks. I have a ways to go!

What a darling drawing . . . that Karen is so talented *s*
Those pineapples are looking great - as a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants type, I would just put all my pieces in a bag or bowl and use whatever I pull from it *s*

I think your pineapple blocks sing and that they don't need to be put on point because the light strips are creating the on point look. There are also on point squares created in the corners of each block. It all looks fantastic.

It looks really nice. I love that blue in there, sprinkled all around it gives a little zing. As far as the darks vs. lights thing, you do have a couple of spots where the more mediumy ones wash out a bit. Personally, I LIKE when that happens, it looks like one of those old fabrics that faded out in a funny way.

I hate to ask, but is OCD obsessive compulsive disorder? I'll die laughing if it something simple like overtly country decor!!

They look fantastic. I like the way the red centers unify the blocks. The bright blues give it some zing. Coming along just lovely.

Keep up the grerat work!

The drawing is sweet. Your blocks look great to me - the lights are light, and no fabric pops out at me like it doesn't belong.

The mouse drawing is adorable. And your quilt is part of it. How clever.
I like the pineapple blocks. Very scrappy and I think it has enough contrast. It would be more graphic with lighter pieces if that is your goal but, in my opinion, it is fine as it is.

Love the mouse drawing. You should adopt it as a logo! As for the pineapple blocks, they look great to me. It's the OCD...makes you THINK way too much. (But you can't help it...it is a personality thing). I am a seat of the pants person but I understand your issues. You gotta have at least 3 plans (your caucious) before you can do anything. Right? And all your questions...so little time! You are doing a terrific job on the quilt!

I'd love to be able to draw like that... That pineapple quilt is going to be simply stunning... Looks like it walked out of a museum. Great job.

What a wonderful surprise for you! Karen did a super job in drawing Grandma Mousie quilting her Williamsburg Medallion. I think your pineapple blocks are perfect. They would look great on point, but the colors look fine to me.

Love the drawing. Pineapple blocks are among my favorites. The blues do jump out a little, because of the brighter color of most of them. You could tea dye just those, or the whole blocks they are in. Or you could leave them as is, and it's just fine, too. The thing about scrappy quilts is that they are scrappy! The quilting will tone things down a little, too.

No matter what you do, I like the blocks and they will be great together!

So you have your own signature now. Really cute drawing! Your pineapples are going great guns. I don't see any problems with the colors at all. Just have fun, and think of all the scraps you are using up, you are using scraps, right? lol

OH, Mousie id great. Love the way the pinapples are turning out. Great scrappy look and the way they go together is perfect. Just do what one of the comments says. Put the scraps in a bag and pull out and sew. Great scrap buster.
