Here is my latest project! Remember I mentioned scheduling a class when I had not made the quilt yet? Well, this is it. The center design is from a vintage quilt that caught my fancy, then I added a sawtooth border. I really loved the cheddar in the original and was excited to have the perfect color, thanks to Judie Rothermel's wonderful reproduction lines. The outer border is from Judie's latest Christmas line. There is no cheddar in the fabric, but it looks as though there is a hint and it brings the whole thing together. Next time you are in your LQS take a look at this fabric and see if you agree. This piece is hand appliqued. I kind of got hooked on that after the Home Sweet Home quilt. I am doing another by machine applique because the class I am teaching is at the Bernina shop, A Different Touch, here in town. By the way, the background isn't as white as it appears here. More the color of muslin.
I am still sewing in the DR because I am still without AC in my sewing room and office. I can sit here in the office for short periods of time, but sewing is another story. At this point my repairman is probably afraid to face me. He claims he went to California (3 weeks ago!) and forgot his cell phone. What are the chances?
Meanwhile, I finished a couple of good murder mysteries, An Unquiet Grave, and A Thousand Bones, written by two women who collaborate and write under the name P. J. Parrish. My husband enjoyed them also.

What a gorgeous block, Marcie!!! :> My most favorite sewing is hand applique. :D BTW, I pieced the little house block out of My Happy Place (see, I DID put that pattern on the top of my 'soon' pile LOL), and my niece loved it! :> Thanks for the 'murder and mayhem' book titles. Any chance you could have your shop ship me a couple of pieces of those fabrics--the green border and that orangey color? Maybe a yard of each? Does your shop do any internet business?

Hi Marcie, love the block! Your applique is beautiful, and the cheddar is to die for! I'm NOT an appliquer, but that is a stunning block(or quilt *VBS*).
Sorry to hear about your AC and the 'ya right' excuse of the repair man...I've been sewing in the dining room all summer, and rather like it. I broke my sewing table in the moving process, and set up on the DR table in desperation..actually, it's cool, the ceiling fan is nice and I can see the bigger TV across the back of the couch. Phone is an arm's length away, not bad at all...LOL

Your piece is wonderful - you can never go wrong with the color combos found in antique inspirations. Even though they had limited options - they still chose the very best colors combinations.
Great block - looks so crisp and well defined and the colours are perfect together.

That turned out great! By the way, I think you have the same repair guy my brother has. He scheduled his guy two months ahead of time to put in electricity to a pond he was having built; when he called the day before to find out when he was coming, the electrician told him he was just leaving for Canada and wouldn't be back for a couple weeks! LOL!

Looks terrific, Marcie but then you already had a pretty clear idea that it might with working with EQ. I don't know what I would do without it since I am generally poking around in it or BlockBase almost daily. Now, my mom would be the graph paper and colored pencil girl. She loves doing all that math stuff to resize patterns and I think "why do that?---I got EQ!"
