KNOCK-KNOCK

Spring is in the air! Around here there are trees budding and others in full bloom! The sun is shining and happiness abounds! I am even doing some spring cleaning in anticipation of company coming for the weekend. That is my big motivator, anyway. But it feels good to shine things up and wipe away layers of dust. The truth is, I don't know if I got it all or not. My eyes don't notice such minor details anymore. I am a lot more relaxed about that stuff than I used to be. I guess I am good with who I am and past worrying about what people will think. Mostly because I have learned that most people don't really care! It is not that I think I am perfect, or above it all. I am over weight and frumpy. People look at me and feel better about themselves! So in a morose kind of way, I spread good cheer! Wow, I am way off the track...and sounding like Rodney Dangerfield! :)

So, speaking of spring, I finished my house block that has the holly and snowflakes! Seven houses done out of nine. When this quilt is finished I will be searching for a new identity. I have been so wrapped up in it.
On the other hand, I am working on a new project as well. I saw an eagle in an antique quilt in a book and drew up my own interpretation. I added the embroidered banner, etc. A really cute border is in the works.
My 23 month old granddaughter (The pink plumpkin from past post) has discovered knock-knock jokes. Yesterday she said to her mother, "knock, knock". Mom says, "who's there?" Plumpkin says, "Jack, it's time to get out of the shower!" Yes, every day she hears her mother knock on the bathroom door and yell to her brother to get out of the shower. Kids are so hilarious! I love it!
I hope you are all doing well. I haven't been blogging too much lately, in an effort to accomplish something in my life. But I try to run through my Bloglines at least once a week. I enjoy touching base with so many of you and admiring your handiwork. I am always happy to hear from you also. I have noticed some new people coming around, and that is fun too. Wow, my list is growing--no wonder I need a whole week to get through it! Have a happy holiday week celebrating Easter and Passover!

I adore your houses and love this proud eagle. Great job! The knock-knock is just too precious, I hope you're writing these things down; they grow up so fast!

The house is really sweet. I'm especially fond of the little snowflakes in the sky.

We may be overweight and frumpy on the outside, but we quilters make up for it on the inside! Love your houses! Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

I love the charming house blocks (and Plumpkin's joke, very cute). As far as the mention of being a bit overweight, it made me realize that I haven't met any really skinny quilters so far. Most of us seem to have an affinity for chocolate & also realize that a little extra batting can be comfy!

Your eagle block is wonderful. Inspiration from antique blocks is just the best.

A knock knock joke that was and still is a favorite of The Princess -
Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Cargo.
Cargo who?
Car go beep beep.
This was hilarious at 3 and still seems to be so at 27 *s*

Thanks for the grin from your post... one of my favorite quotes is "At my house, dust is a noun, not a verb."

But you said... "I am over weight and frumpy. People look at me and feel better about themselves! So in a morose kind of way, I spread good cheer!" Well, as I waddle into people's lives, I must be not only spreading cheer, but slathering it on with a spatula... lol

My son hears that same "get out of the shower" message! We had a $90 water bill this month to show for it.

I'm like forestjane-plenty of good cheer follows me wherever I go I could spread it by the truck full but it really is whats on the inside that counts. At the moment easter eggs are on the inside, wont be long till they're showing up on the outside i guess lol

Congratulations on the seventh house finished. It's so pretty; love the fabric used for the grass and also the urn to the left of the house. This quilt is going to be wonderful.

Do like your house but while you overseas people are so excited about spring - me here is Auzzie can't wait for winter and some cooler weather. We do enjoy it all at the start but by the end you can't wait for the next season to get here.
Enjoy your spring........

The house looks fabulous Marcie!! I had never seen the holly in that quilt until now! Love the eagle too. Very primitive and patriotic!

The house block does look sweet! I was thinking about doing that quilt. I opted for The Quilted Garden. I have all the fabrics sitting in a plastic tub. I also like your embroidery bird block. Keep well and happy quilting!

I too love house blocks. House blocks and basket blocks are both good. (What would Freud have said about us both!) Yours are lovely. Are you making them up as you go on? I rather like the idea of doing several houses and depicting the seasons. Over here in England we get so many lovely patterns from over The Pond, but they have things like 4th July fireworks, watermelons, Thanksgiving turkeys etc which aren't really appropriate for an English quilt. Looking forward to seeing the embellishments on your final house.

Hi Marcie, what great house blocks you are completing! I love them..they will be a gorgeous quilt I think.
And drawing your own pattern for that Eagle...that's amazing. He looks very authenically Early American.
